Meet Karen Strecker in Oklahoma City, OK

Karen Strecker is one of our dedicated medical assistants at our Choctaw clinic.

Karen was born in Amarillo, Texas, and grew up in Jones, Oklahoma, since the age of three. She has been a valued member of the ICO team for over a year and brings enthusiasm and compassion to her role each day. Karen loves the variety of urgent care, appreciating the different cases she encounters and the opportunity to make a difference in her patients’ lives.

If Karen could have lunch with anyone, it would be Reba McEntire. She admires Reba as a role model, describing her as down-to-earth and a true Southern girl. Karen says she’d love to “pick her brain” —and even jokingly asks if Reba could adopt her!

Outside of work, Karen leads a busy life. She and her family care for farm animals, including some new bunnies, and she stays active in FFA and agricultural activities with her daughter. Over spring break, they spent time at the fairgrounds showing pigs. Karen misses Dr. Brock, who shared an interest in FFA and always asked about her daughter’s involvement, especially in public speaking.

In her downtime, Karen enjoys fishing with her husband, reading, and recently started watching a show called Watson. Karen’s favorite part of working at ICO is performing testing and x-rays, where she gets to use her skills hands-on with patients. A fun fact about Karen is that her daughter was born on 9-9-09, weighed 9 lbs 10 oz, and even made it into the Daily Oklahoman newspaper!

We deeply appreciate Karen’s dependability, commitment, and kindness. She is always ready to help both patients and coworkers, and we are lucky to have her on our team!
